Reflection on Progress Made for Collaborative

Since choosing an idea that we wanted to develop, we have made a good amount of progress on our Collaborative Project. We spent about two weeks doing a variety of exercises which allowed us to explore ideas we had regarding lighting, use of body, and incorporating potential lines into small improvised scenes. What this eventually turned into was Maddie, Helena, and I all sitting down together coming up with ideas about a more specific plot, staging ideas, and tech usage, based on these exercises that we performed. Our ideas were bouncing off of each other, as everything that we each proposed was unique and could have multiple affects on the portrayal of our characters and the plot. It was actually really exciting for all of us to start picturing and imagining the possibilities and potential of our project, and what it can become!
Since this sit down meeting, we have been able to diverge and generate specific events in the order that we want them to occur in our scene, as well as assign more specific differences/qualities about each character, and began a working script. In addition, we were envisioning lighting affects for certain parts of our project, and were able to add working lighting cues into the script/plot events. During this time, it was decided that I was going to play the sister who is leaving to go off to war (Sophia), Helena will be playing her "real" other sister living in reality (Ellie #1), while Maddie will be playing the subconscious sister who is in the dream (Ellie #2). Regarding the script, I've been proposing a lot of ideas of the first scene in our project since, it's how our project starts, and since it's about Sophia and her sister establishing what is happening. So, I've been talking with Maddie and Helena a lot about how I envisioned myself acting and saying certain lines in this scene, and what i think Sophia would do or say. In addition, since we only have the first initial scene of our collaborative in progress, I've been involved in actually trying it out on stage and acting it out to see what works, rather than just talking about it while creating the lines.
What's been working for our group has been introducing more lines, trying it out, and seeing what we thought worked well and what we think needs to change. We want to keep refining our first scene, but feel like we should keep moving on and make the script for the rest of our project to have a base that we can work off of and refine as a whole unit. Once we have a rough outline and map as to what lines are going to be said, the staging of each scene, and the lighting, then I feel like we can further refine our project to make it even better, but first we need a solid foundation to build off of.
